Land Bank looks at New Boston Coke Plant site

Scioto County Commissioner Bryan Davis says there has been a discussion about the Scioto County Land Bank taking ownership of the former New Boston Coke Plant site in order to accomplish clean up of the site but admitted, “It’s a messy situation.”

Updating the Scioto County Commissioners on a recent Land Bank board meeting, Davis also said that the Land Bank wants to work with the City of Portsmouth to put together property that would be suitable to market for development.

The Land Bank board has requested a list of all properties available for sale and the values of the property.
“There’s quite a few to get rid of,” Davis said.
Davis had previously said the Land Bank is looking to future for ways to sell properties and generate more cash to demolish or potentially remodel blighted homes in the County.
Davis was particularly concerned about properties in the city’s East End.
