Larry Allen Mitchell, 66, of Portsmouth

Larry Allen Mitchell, 66, of Portsmouth, was born June 9, 1955, a twin, to Harold Farren and Lillian Garnet Williams Mitchell.  He courageously battled esophageal cancer for more than three years and was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on September 6, 2021, surrounded by his family. He and his wife, Kim (Sieling), were high school sweethearts and were married on October 5, 1980, recently celebrating 40 years of marriage.

Larry was an active member of Central Church of Christ, serving on the board as a trustee and helping out wherever he could. He was a talented furniture refinisher and he and Kim loved antiques, going on many auction trips and doing antique shows in Ohio and Kentucky. They liked gardening, going on lots of adventures and an occasional casino trip. Larry also enjoyed bowling, having played in both the Wednesday Night Commercial League and the Thursday Night Atomic league. He was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds, Bengals and Ohio State Buckeyes.

A 1973 graduate of Portsmouth High School, Larry worked for Sears before joining the City of Portsmouth, retiring from the Service Department as Sanitation Supervisor after more than 36 years of service.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Kimberly Ann Sieling Mitchell; twin brother, Barry (Reva) Mitchell and their children Jennifer Mitchell, Kyle (Megan) Mitchell and his great niece, Lilly, all of Portsmouth; brothers-in-law, Roger (Sally) Sieling of Columbus and their son, Brent Sieling of Columbus, Bruce (Trudy) Sieling of Wichita, KS, their daughter Kristina McGowan of Columbus and her children, Shawn Harney and Katherine McGowan; sister-in-law, Melissa Justice of Blacklick, her son, Ryan (Elizabeth) Middleton of Gahanna and their son, Myles; and his beloved rescue cat, Buddy.
