Larry P. McNelly, 76

Larry McNelly

Larry McNelly was a good man.

Larry, 76, passed away Friday, September 24, after a long illness. He is survived by his wife Sharon, his wife of 56 years, whom he met in seventh grade. Larry is also survived by his two daughters, Lisa (Ray Vestal) Anderson and Lori McNelly, and a grandson, Tyler Anderson.

He is also survived by two younger brothers, Doug (Freda) McNelly and Dave (Penny) McNelly, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Art and Lizzie Charles McNelly, and two brothers, Jim and Ralph McNelly, all of South Webster. No doubt, they are all catching up on a porch somewhere heavy with the scent of coffee and home cooking.

He was a 1963 graduate of Bloom High School. For nearly 40 years, Larry worked as a journeyman millwright at AK Steel. He loved watching NASCAR and rebuilding cars. He and his brothers built the family home. He was proud that the finish on the furniture he built from scratch is smooth as glass. He enjoyed archery with his brothers.

Most importantly, he was our rock — always steadfast, dependable, and true. We will always love him and try our best to honor him.

Visitation will be at noon, Wednesday, September 29, with services at 1 p.m. at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME in South Webster. Interment will be at South Webster Cemetery.  Online condolences may be left at www.DWSwickFuneralHome.com.

Due to COVID-19, masks will be required to keep the people Larry loved safe.
