Linda Lou Dowdy, 81, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 11, 2024, as she loved and praised him to the end. She knew at the end that she would see her loving Savior in heaven and family that she missed so dearly. She was raised in Wheelersburg, Ohio.
She enjoyed playing Bluegrass music and entertaining at benefits, nursing homes and homes. She also enjoyed quilting and crafts, but most of all, loved having her family and friends around her.
Linda was a loving wife to James H. Dowdy; 2 daughters, Sherry (Dowdy) Hampton and husband Frank, Vanessa (Dowdy) Mills and husband Roger. She has 7 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Linda was preceded in death by her son James (Rick) Dowdy, mother Hattie Roof, father Everett Roof, 3 brothers Gerland, Lowell, Roger and 3 sisters, Cassie, Vergie May and Baby sister.
She will be missed by her family and friends. She gave so much love to all. Special mention to Georgetta Rice and Danita Davidson, as they both were such a wonderful help to our mother and loved her so dearly. Sincere thank you to SOMC Hospice. Prayers is what gave her comfort at the end; Psalms 23, Matthew 5:8 and Psalms 61.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME (Wolfe- Nelson Chapel) in Sciotoville. Interment to follow at Vernon Cemetery in Wheelersburg. Visitation will be from 12- 2 PM, prior to the service at the funeral home.
