On January 18, 2025, a car accident on State Route 7 in Union Township, Lawrence County, took the life of 48-year-old Daniel L. Jones II from Proctorville. The crash happened around 2:05 a.m. near State Route 775.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol reported that Mr. Jones was driving a 2008 Toyota hatchback when it veered off the road and hit a guardrail. Emergency crews rushed him to Saint Mary’s Hospital, but sadly, he was pronounced dead there.
Investigators believe Mr. Jones may have suffered a medical emergency while driving, which caused the crash. They do not suspect drugs or alcohol played a role.
The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office and EMS were on the scene to help. The Lawrence County Coroner’s Office has been notified, and Mr. Jones’ family has been informed of his passing.
The crash is still under investigation.
