It took a few tries to get help for a Lucasville resident experiencing a medical crisis. The call came in for help at 1:18 am. Dispatch sent for an ambulance, but when they got no answer, they sent out another alert five minutes later.
Six minutes after that, Valley EMS said they would respond with an EMT and fireman, and Dispatch requested Rosemount send an ambulance; however, they got no response.
At 1:38 am, Valley VFD suggested dispatch contact the A-Plant for a squad. The facility said they would dispatch an ambulance at 1:43 am. However, around 1:55 am, Valley said they didn’t need the squad and would be able to handle it.
Between 2 and 3 am, EMS responded to calls on Pollock Road, Stoney Run Road, and Poplar Fork Road.
At 4 am, a report that an 87-year-old had fallen inside a locked house was called in by Life Alert. Portsmouth Ambulance responded to assist, but the patient did not require a trip to the hospital.
At 6 am, a Wheelersburg call for help went through several agencies. No local EMS was available, so the call went to Portsmouth Ambulance. However, they didn’t have a squad, so the call went to EMT Ohio. EMT Ohio didn’t have a crew available, so dispatch asked Green EMS to respond, and they were able to take the call.
At 6:30 am, a 911 call came in for a person having chest pains on Gallia Pike. The nearest EMS didn’t have a crew, and EMT Ohio and Portsmouth Ambulance also lacked a crew. Porter Township was able to respond from New Boston.
At 7:30 am, a 74-year-old fell on Oakwood Avenue. EMS requested another squad to bring an additional EMT, and they acknowledged the call at 7:50 am.
Around 8:15 am, dispatch requested help for a medical crisis on St. Rt. 348. A squad responded but requested an additional EMT. A Rush medic acknowledged the request at 8:20 am, and the squad was on the way to the scene by 8:34 am.
