Loose Dogs Kill Cats on Houston Hollow Long Run Road
Just after 1:30 pm, a woman contacted the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office to report her neighbor’s loose dogs had attacked and killed her cats.
She claimed she called the dog warden to report the incident, but they hung up on her.
Dispatch took information for a report.
Cows on the Loose on Perry Road
The infamous roaming cows of Perry Road were on the loose again this weekend.
Just after 2:30 pm, a man called to report his neighbor’s cows were once again in his yard.
When deputies arrived on the scene, they found eight cows on the road. Officers contacted the owner of the cows.
He came and rounded up the animals.
Pit Bulls Attack on Gallia Street
A Gallia Street resident managed to fend off an attacking pit bull with mace on Thursday afternoon.
Just after 11 am, he contacted PPD to report the animals running loose in the area. He said he didn’t know who they belonged to
The dogs were described as a brown pit bull and a white and brown pit bull. He said the animals charged him while he was in his yard and he maced them to fend off the attack.
Dispatch forwarded the information to Animal Control.
Argonne Road Cat Trap Dispute
Just before 2 am, a woman contacted Portsmouth Police to report someone came into her driveway and let a cat out of a live trap.
Officers responded to the scene and determined that nothing criminal had occurred. However, an officer did speak to two women and advised them to stay off the property.
Cops Investigate Cat “Burglar”
A slew of alarms at businesses kept PPD officers busy overnight.
At 12:45 am, the alarm for an unsecured front door sounded at Buffalo Wild Wings. An employee responded to the scene to meet the officers. Officers cleared the building and found nothing wrong inside. The employee locked the door.
Ten minutes later, an alarm sounded at Auto Stylz on Findlay Street. An officer checked the building, and it appeared secure.
Half an hour later, the alarm sounded again. An officer noted the building looked secure but did spot a white cat running around inside.
During the chase, a trailer broke off the suspect vehicle near White Oak Hill Road, and Pike County sent a tow truck to fetch it. Deputies reported finding some of the stolen items on St. Rt. 772. Officers interviewed the victim, and the investigation is ongoing.
