Love Triangle, Missing Phone, and an Ankle Monitor End With Arrest

Love Triangle ends in arrest

A dispute involving an ex-girlfriend, a missing phone, and a new relationship ended with one woman being taken to jail after deputies responded to a disorderly conduct complaint.

Officers were called after reports that a woman had been outside a residence yelling, cursing, and causing a disturbance.

When deputies arrived, they spoke with family members who said the argument centered around a cellphone and tensions involving an ex-girlfriend who had recently moved on to a new relationship.

According to the report, the situation had been building throughout the day.

Witnesses told deputies that Peggy Pyles had been outside the home shouting and arguing about the phone and relationship issues.

Family members also reported that alcohol appeared to be fueling the dispute.

When deputies made contact with Pyles, they observed several signs of intoxication, according to the report.

Officers noted the odor of an alcoholic beverage, bloodshot and glassy eyes, and difficulty maintaining balance.

During the encounter, deputies also noticed that Pyles was wearing an ankle monitor.

When asked about drinking, Pyles reportedly denied consuming alcohol.

Investigators say the visible signs of intoxication told a different story.

The incident occurred in South Point.

Based on her behavior and the disturbance that prompted the call, deputies arrested Pyles for Disorderly Conduct by Intoxication.

She was transported to the Lawrence County Jail for processing.

According to the report, deputies advised her that any issues regarding alcohol consumption while wearing an ankle monitor would need to be addressed with her supervising probation officer.

Alcohol and Ankle Monitors

Many ankle monitoring programs include restrictions on alcohol use, particularly when the monitor is connected to probation, community control, or court-ordered supervision.

While not every ankle monitor tests for alcohol, consuming alcohol while under court supervision can create additional legal problems depending on the conditions imposed by the court.

In this case, the criminal charge stemmed from the alleged disorderly conduct, while any probation-related consequences would be handled separately through the court system.
