Portsmouth Police responded to a call at around 8:30 pm stating that 5 people were actively involved in a street fight on Mabert Road.
Upon arrival, PPD stated that they discovered a victim lying in the street. The victim stated that his assailant had fled the scene. The medics checked him out for rib pain and head pain after he hit the pavement. He refused to be transported to SOMC.
Police checked a nearby home that was said to be the residence of the suspect.
After gathering evidence and statements from witnesses, the police were able to make contact with the suspect via phone. He said he would return to speak with officers.
Jason Cain was arrested and charged with assault. He was booked and quickly released.
A background check of Cain shows that he does not appear to have a criminal history in Scioto County.
