A man who wanted police to help him retrieve his child ended up behind bars when all was said and done.
The man contacted the police just before 4 pm to report that a woman had his child and would not return the child to him. He said CPS told him he should take an officer along to retrieve the child.
However, it turned out the man was driving a vehicle that the woman had previously reported stolen. Police took the man into custody for receiving stolen property and probation violation. The vehicle was returned to the woman he claimed would not return his child.
The child was placed in protective custody after police and CPS conducted an investigation and interview.
