Deputies investigated a report of an assault after they were called in for a report of a suspicious vehicle around 12:30 am.
When they located the vehicle in the yard of a South Point home, a man told them that his boss had gotten drunk and assaulted him with a tire iron in a dispute over his pay for working at a body shop.
The man said he was unsure if he wanted to file charges or send for an ambulance but that he had someone on the way to tow his inoperable vehicle.
Officers noticed someone standing in the doorway of a nearby garage and went to talk to the man. He explained that he’d allowed the man, who he described as homeless, to stay in his garage and in his boat and that the man had attacked him, so he defended himself.
The man explained he’d asked the other man multiple times to leave.
While the officer was speaking with the residents, friends showed up to pick up the first guy, but there was no sign of a tow truck.
Officers offered the man an ambulance or a chance to press charges one last time, but he refused.
