A man ran from police after an incident at SOMC and an angry neighbor tried to run over some workers. We hit the highlights of the Portsmouth Police Chief’s Daily Briefing.
Suspicious Activity
Just after midnight, a Waller Street caller reported two men were in front of his home, attempting to get him to come out and fight them. By the time officers arrived, 25 minutes later, they were gone. Police took information for a report.
Angry Neighbor Tries To Run Down Workers
At 8:30 am, an Auburn Avenue caller reported that a man who lives a few doors down threatened to kill him and his workers and then attempted to run them over with a tan SUV.
An officer went to the alleged perpetrator’s home, but there was no answer. They did spot a tan SUV with a racing stripe.
The officer said an attempt would be made to catch the man at home to discuss the situation.
Grand Theft Auto
A Coles Blvd. resident contacted police to report a man had taken her vehicle. She said someone called her this morning to tell him he was at a 5th Street residence. Police took information for a report.
At 10:37 am, an Oakland Avenue caller reported her 2004 Kia Sorento stolen. Officers took information for a report.
False Alarms
At 4:25 am, officers responded to a burglar alarm at the Dollar General on Harding Avenue. The building was secure, it appeared the newspaper delivery driver hit the front door and triggered the alarm.
At 5:48, police investigated a burglar alarm at a Chillicothe Street business.
At 11:28, alarms for the front and back doors went off at the Sunrise Treatment Center. When police checked it out, all doors were locked and secure.
At 12:42, the front door alarm went off at a Court Street business. There was no answer at the door, but the exterior appeared secure.
Just before 6:30 pm, officers responded to a burglar alarm at a 29th Street home. The owner accidentally set it off.
Domestic Disturbance
Police responded to an active domestic dispute on 21st Street just before 1 am. The male half of the disagreement did not want to press charges. Officers advised him on the process of having the female half trespassed from the property.
Man Flees Police After Incident at SOMC
Officers were called to the SOMC Main Campus by SOMC Security at 1 pm. A man and his girlfriend got into a heated argument and SOMC Security had to separate them. They asked officers to check the area for the man who was wearing an orange hoodie.
An officer spotted the man on Hutchins, and he took off running. He was last spotted in the alley between Hutchins and Franklin. The officer was unable to locate him.
