Just before 2 a.m., a caller on St. Rt. 139 reported a man in black sitting in his yard attempting to burn things.
When officers arrived on the scene, they encountered a man who had just been released from jail. The man was in an excited state and said he hadn’t had anything to eat since he got out of jail. Now, this story takes a heartfelt turn. Officers gave him some food and then had a conversation with him.
He said he was walking with no destination in mind since he couldn’t return to his family’s house due to a protection order. Officers told them that if he wanted to retrieve his belongings, he could arrange for a sheriff’s escort, at a later date.
Since the man did not seem to be impaired, officers told him to stay off other people’s property.
