Nobody wants to get arrested when they didn’t do anything wrong, at least not this time, but it happened to a man after officers responded to a report on Jackson Avenue, and it took some time to get everything cleared up.
It all started just before 4 p.m. when a caller said a child claimed a woman and her boyfriend had hit him and were outside arguing.
When police arrived at the home, they learned the child was angry because he’d been grounded and told he couldn’t go to football.
However, when police were at the home, they found an open warrant on the boyfriend for failure to appear. However, the man said he’d already been arrested on that warrant and been to court to take care of it.
Police called the Sheriff’s Office, and they insisted that the warrant was valid. However, the officer looked up the court website and saw that the man had been in court when he claimed. The Sheriff’s Office still insisted that PPD bring the guy in.
When they got to the jail, a jailer told them that the man had already been booked and released on that charge. It turned out the Sheriff’s Office forgot to remove the warrant.
The officer gave the man a ride back home.
