A potentially deadly situation unfolded on US 52 East just after 9 a.m. when multiple alarmed drivers called 911 to report a man dressed in black stumbling in and out of traffic.

Callers described the man as visibly intoxicated and dangerously close to being struck by passing vehicles. For nearly 30 minutes, the man vanished from view—until Portsmouth officers finally located a suspect matching the description near Gallia and Winchester.

Turns out, he wasn’t just a road hazard—he also had an open warrant. Police took him into custody and booked him into the Scioto County Jail, ending what could have turned into a tragedy.
