Man Reports Bizarre Attacks In Clay Township

Scioto County Sheriff’s Deputies investigated some bizarre claims involving chasing off stalkers with a machete after a call came in from Clay Township at midnight.

A man said he was camping with his girlfriend and some men began to chase them. He said the men were still there.

When officers arrived at the scene, he claimed he’d chased them off with a machete and requested help with his vehicle and to use a phone.

After deputies left, he called back to say the men were surrounding him, so deputies returned to the scene. When officers arrived, he said the men were family members of his girlfriend and that they did nothing wrong; he said he just didn’t understand why they were there.

The man and woman then told police they were homeless and broke and had been camping for two days. However, they refused a ride to the man’s grandmother’s house. Instead, the man was interested in getting his phone charged and some gas for his car.

Police said they had food and water, but the only cell phone they had in their possession could only be used to call 911.

Officers determined no crime had taken place.
