Man Spotted Tossing Baggies Into Jail Yard

A witness spotted someone making a pretty bold move at the Scioto County Jail around 2:38 pm. The caller said they saw a guy in a black jacket tossing baggies of something towards the jail enclosure. The witness also said the man had a duffle bag with him.

Officers called the jail and advised them to check their cameras. Deputies said they’d seen the guy fitting the description leave the lobby of the jail but could not locate him. 

Deputies said they would check the grounds of the jail later for baggies. 

Other Suspicious Activity 

Just after 1:35 pm, the Dollar General on Gallia reported that a man came into the store, stole some body wash, and fled the scene. Police could not get a good look at him on the security footage.

A Quick Stop employee contacted officers at 3:25 pm to report a teenager throwing rocks at the store who claimed he was going to rob the business. Officers spoke with the boy, and since the building was not damaged, let him go with a warning. 

At 3:31 pm, a caller reported two men doing drugs in a red pickup parked at the Pleasant Green Baptist Church. Police could not locate the suspects. 

Norfolk Southern Railroad contacted police at 2 am to report a man was walking on the tracks near the Young Street Overpass. When police arrived at the scene, they found a troubled homeless man with whom they have frequent contact. They advised him to stay off the tracks. 

A Speedway clerk once gain contacted PPD to report an issue with someone in the store. He said a man who had previously threatened him was back at the store causing an issue. Officers arrived on the scene to serve formal trespass paperwork
