Scioto County deputies launched a major investigation after a man showed up at SOMC Urgent Care on Ohio River Road with a stab wound to the neck.
Deputies and emergency crews were called around 12:40 p.m. after medical staff reported a male patient had been stabbed in the neck.
Emergency responders quickly requested a medical helicopter.
Fire crews set up a landing zone at Wheelersburg High School, and Air Evac responded to the scene. The victim was flown to Cabell Huntington Hospital.
Deputies then headed to Dogwood Ridge Apartments, where they taped off a crime scene.
Investigators also issued a BOLO to surrounding law enforcement agencies for possible suspects involved. Portsmouth police, Ohio State Highway Patrol, Pike County, Lawrence County, and other agencies were updated.
Deputies took statements from witnesses and spoke with the victim’s mother, who owned the residence involved. She gave law enforcement permission to enter the home.
Later, deputies reported that the girlfriend of a suspect had been picked up by Kentucky State Police around Grayson.
The male suspect was still at large, according to the log, and updated BOLOs were sent to surrounding agencies.
