Officers responded to the Kroger on Gay Street for a report of a shoplifter who didn’t think things through.
Employees said a man stole items from the store and was now in the parking lot near the pharmacy window attempting to sell the items.
When officers arrived on the scene, they took the man into custody and served him with notice that he was barred from the property.
Police arrested Randy Addie for drug possession and booked him into the Scioto County Jail.
Addie’s faced close to 50 previous charges in Portsmouth Municipal Court, including criminal trespass, aggravated arson, theft, vandalism, breaking and entering felonious assault, receiving stolen property, fugitive from justice, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, falsification, robbery, aggravated burglary, criminal damaging, petty theft, theft of a motor vehicle, and driving without a license.
He’s faced six other charges in the past year.
