Man Threatens Arson Over Stolen Auto Part

A dispute over an auto repair led to an alleged arson threat. Just before 11 pm, a man contacted PPD to say a man threatened to burn his house down over a stolen catalytic converter.

He said he had worked on the man’s car earlier with the help of a friend, but later discovered his friend had cut off the catalytic converter. He said he offered to fix the issue, but the vehicle owner was furious and threatened to burn his house down.

However, he didn’t know the legal name of the car owner and didn’t want to file a complaint. He did want the incident documented in case anything happened.

Repeat Offender Busted For DUI

Officers arrested a man with a history of driving under the influence on Monday night.

PPD and SCSO officers responded to the 2200 block of 8th Street for a DUI report. Officers took a man into custody and arranged to have his vehicle towed.

He refused a sobriety test and was arrested for DUI and booked into the Scioto County Jail. This was not the first time that 44-year-old Todd Murphy had been arrested on that charge.

Murphy’s booking history at the jail shows he was arrested for DUI back in August of 2009 and on the same charge in 2003.

Bail was set at $1000.
