Man Threatens to Kill His Drug Dealer With Samurai Sword

A man made some very unusual calls to 9-1-1 threatening to harm his drug dealer.

Just after midnight, Scioto County dispatch forwarded a message to PPD that a man called them saying he’d just been released from the hospital and he planned to go kill his drug dealer. Officers were unable to locate the man.

However, he called back just before 3 am to repeat the threat, saying he was going to kill the man with a samurai sword.  He told dispatch the dealer was planning on coming to get him, but he was going to kill him first.

The man repeatedly called 911 during the night, repeating the threats.

At 4 pm, a local crisis center reported that the man threatened to jump off a bridge and was last spotted on Court Street. Officers were unable to locate him.

Officers finally found him at 11 am the next day when he appeared in Portsmouth Municipal Court on an aggravated menacing charge. By that time, they had obtained the paperwork to involuntarily commit him to the VA in Chillicothe for treatment.
