Manhunt After Suspicious Man Spooks Offnere Street Neighbors

Manhunt

Police launched a search for a man spotted behaving suspiciously in the Offnere Street area.

The first call came in at 8:34 am, when a woman in the 1800 block of Offnere spotted a strange man in her fenced-in backyard. She confronted him and told him to leave, and he did.

Five minutes later, a resident in the 1700 block of Offnere said the man grabbed a chair from her porch and looked as if he were going to break the window on the house next door. He then took off between houses.

Officers checked the area of Offnere, but could not locate him. However, he was spotted on foot in the Woodlawn and Timlin area shortly after. Police identified him as a man they’d arrested the previous day for disorderly conduct and released.

While searching for the man, police did discover an open door on a house that was up for sale, but they didn’t spot the suspect. Four units spent an hour searching for him, but they could not locate the man.
