Marilyn Louise Mercer, 85, of Portsmouth, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at Hill View. She was born in Portsmouth on April 12, 1940, to the late Stanley Arthur and Elsie M. Allen Webb.
A 1959 graduate of Portsmouth West High School, Marilyn had worked at the former Williams Manufacturing Co. and then enjoyed being a full-time wife, mother, and homemaker. She attended First Christian Church and was a member of the Red Hat Society. Marilyn was also an SOMC volunteer and Kardia Guild member.
She wed Donald Gene Mercer in Portsmouth on January 22, 1960, and the couple had been married for 59 years at the time of Don’s death on April 25, 2019.
Surviving are her two sons, Kip Steven (Suzanne) Mercer of Key Colony Beach, FL, and Kevin Scott Mercer of the Philippines; two grandchildren, Nicholas Steven (Danielle) Mercer of Newark, and Kimberly Mercer of Portsmouth; great grandchildren, Braiden Burchett and Caiden Howard, both of Portsmouth; a sister, Sheryl Summers (Kevin) Karnes of Pesotum, IL; as well as three nieces, nephews, and their families.
Marilyn was also preceded in death by a brother, Stanley A. Webb, Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Rev. Ralph L. Clay officiating. Interment will be in Scioto Burial Park.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service on Saturday.
