Marvin Roger ‘Sonny’ Davis, 89, of Portsmouth

Marvin Roger ‘Sonny’ Davis, 89, of Portsmouth, passed away on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at the SOMC Hospice Center. He was born on March 18, 1936, in New Boston, a son of the late Agnes McPhail Chafin and Robert Davis.

A 1954 Glenwood High School graduate, Sonny joined the Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1958. He then worked for many years as an electrician at the A-Plant. He was a Freemason and member of the Harrison/Fullerton Lodge #937 for over 50 years, and a member of the El Hasa Shrine Clown Unit. Sonny was also a Kentucky Colonel and a member of the James Dickey Post American Legion #23.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ann Marie Hilderbrand Davis. The couple was married on November 27, 1961, in New Boston.

Also surviving are two daughters, Sandy (Curtis) Davis-DePuy of Portsmouth and Aimee (James) Fleshman of West Jefferson; two granddaughters, Rachel Mowen and Rebekah Morales; and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Bobbie Jo Lauter; and three sisters, Dorothy Justus, Clarice Squibb and Roberta Davis.

A Memorial Service will be held at noon on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at the Sciotoville Christian Church, with Military Rites provided by the James Dickey Post #23 American Legion Honor Guard. The family will welcome guests from 11 A.M. until the service hour.
