Masked Man Stabs Woman in Farley Square

Officers responded to reports of a masked man with a knife and a man who claimed a corrections officer beat him up. We break down the Portsmouth Police Chief’s Daily Briefing. 

Stabbing Threat Reported at Tracy Park

A caller contacted officers at 6 pm to report a man in a red coat had smacked another man by the stage, and another man came up to him to say he was going to stab the guy in the red coat. 

Officers took an intoxicated man into custody and left him at the Scioto County Jail.

Assault on Gallia Street

Half an hour later, a man reported an assault on Gallia Street. He said another man hit him in the head. Officers observed injuries to the side of his face. 

He claimed the man was a corrections officer who punched and hit him. An ambulance transported the man to the hospital. He refused to give a statement and a witness to the incident declined to as well. 

Under the Influence 

Just before 8 pm, a caller reported an apparently high man walking on 18th Street. Officers took the man home and left him with his father. 

At 10 pm, the Sheriff’s Office relayed a call from a woman who said a man threatened to kill himself and was sending pictures of guns. Officers located him in a bar. He was intoxicated but said he had no intention of harming himself. He said his wife reported him because she was angry that he would not come home from the bar.

Just before 2 am, officers responded to SOMC ER after a woman came in and claimed a man in a ski mask stabbed her in Farley Square.

Officers took information for a report and discovered an open warrant on the woman from the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office. The LCSO said they did not want the woman arrested unless the PPD detained her for another reason. 

Cry For Help

Police responded to a report of a woman threatening to harm herself just after 11 am. A witness reported the woman tried to hand herself with a wire and was not threatening to drink bleach.

The woman told officers she mentioned those things during an argument but did not attempt them. EMS personnel cleared the woman medically.
