Masked Man With Knife Spotted on 8th Street

A creepy call came into PPD just before 7 pm. A witness reported a man wearing a Halloween mask carrying a large knife. Police responded to the scene but were unable to locate the individual. 

More suspicious activity, this time on Mabert Road. A caller said there were several strangers in her yard who attempted to get into her back window. She said they moved on to her neighbor’s yard. 

Police caught up with the suspects in the 2300 block of Mabert and detained them. 

Suspicious Man Spotted on McDermott Pond Creek Road

Worried neighbors on McDermott Pond Creek Road contacted the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office to report some strange behavior from a man they say they’ve had problems with in the past.

Just before 6 am, a woman reported a man walking between her house and the neighbors. She reported he was messed up on drugs and claimed to have left his vehicle in her driveway. However, no one had left a vehicle in her driveway. 

Another call came in about ten minutes later, saying the man was walking down St. Rt. 104 and appeared he’d parked his vehicle at a nearby store. A deputy located the car at a store while another deputy found the man walking down the road. 

Another family reported to officers they had spotted the man on their Ring doorbell camera and were concerned because he’s stolen from them in the past. 

A deputy advised the man to stay away from people’s houses and reported officers had located his vehicle at the store. He claimed the vehicle didn’t belong to him, but when deputies ran the plate, it came back as registered to him.

Hubby Throws Fit – Busts Out Wife’s Window

An unhappy husband took out his frustrations on his wife’s car window. The wife contacted officers just before 8 pm to ask that they perform a welfare check on her husband. 

The man wanted her home at a certain time, and when she didn’t comply, he busted the window out of her vehicle at a party she was attending. She said the man was sending texts threatening to kill himself because she hadn’t come yet. 

Police checked on the man and reported he did not show any signs of wanting to harm himself. Officers reported incidents like this had been an ongoing issue with the couple for several months. 

Vandals Hit Portsmouth Homes

A 24th Street resident contacted police at 2 pm to report he’d just arrived home and found his basement window kicked in. 

He wasn’t sure if someone just broke the window or used it to gain entry to the home. An officer headed to the scene to check for a burglar and took information for a report. 

Half an hour later, a Vinton Avenue resident contacted police to report someone had vandalized her house. Police took information for a report.
