Medics Save PMHA Overdose Victim

Medics brought a man around after an overdose at a PMHA Apartment, and a hit and run driver makes a mess at a beauty salon. We break down the Portsmouth Police Chief’s Daily Briefing. 

What’s in the Trunk?

A man flagged an officer down just before 1 am to say he thought there was someone in the trunk of his car because he heard strange noises.

The officer thought the man seemed a bit confused and believed the noise was caused by a mechanical issue. Police could not open the trunk because the vehicle’s key was stuck in the ignition. 

Police advised the man to contact a locksmith for the key and a mechanic for the vehicle noises.

Open Manhole Damages Van

An open manhole cover at 12th and Offnere Street caused damage to a vehicle at 12:58 am. Police said a van hit the cover and busted a tire. 

Officers sent for Portsmouth City Service to take care of the problem. 

Homeless Issues

A Walnut Street caller reported homeless people hanging around an abandoned home near the New Boston line. An officer said the home was still boarded up and police could not locate anyone in the area. 

Officers responded to Tracy Park for a report of a man slumped over in a silver van. The man told officers he was homeless and sleeping in the vehicle. 

Hit and Run at Head-Quarters

The driver of a Buick Lucerne slammed into a black Jeep outside the Head-Quarters Salon on 4th Street around 8 am and then fled the scene. 

In addition to damaging the Jeep, the hit and run driver took out a city sign. Officers took information for a report. 

Woman Treated at Urgent Care After US 52 Crash

Police said a woman was transported to the hospital after a crash in the 6800 Block of US 52. 

An officer spoke to the parties involved, photographed the woman’s injuries, and turned the matter over to the Ohio State Patrol for investigation. 

Criminal Damaging

A Grandview Avenue Caller contacted officers to report someone spray-painted their vehicle just after 2 pm. 

Police took information for a report. 

Man Revived after Overdose in PMHA Apartment

Medics managed to revive a man who overdosed at a PMHA Apartment on Robinson Avenue. Police said EMS administered Narcan to bring the guy around. 

The man agreed to go with the Overdose Response Team and seek help.
