Michael Lee Meeker

Michael Lee Meeker, 74, of West Portsmouth, died on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, in the emergency room of the Southern Ohio Medical Center. Born on August 15, 1950, in Portsmouth, he was the son of the late Oscar and Ruby Moore Meeker.

Mike was a graduate of Portsmouth High School in the class of 1968, was a member of the Sixth Street International Pentecostal Church of Christ and was a retired maintenance supervisor at the A-Plant.

He enjoyed fishing, football, shopping at Harbor Freight, traveling to the Smokies, wood working and most of all, spending time with his soul mate and love of his life, Cindy.

Also preceding him in death was a sister, Anita Newsome and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ted and Goldie Backus.

Surviving are his wife, Cynthia Backus Meeker; four sons, Benjamin (Amanda) Meeker of Wheelersburg, Andrew (Brenda) Meeker of Wheelersburg, Bradley (Mandy) Meeker of Franklin Furnace and Alec (Brooke Haas) Meeker of Sciotoville; a sister, Cindy Burgess of Portsmouth; six grandchildren, Molly Meeker, Jacob Meeker, Kaden (Andrea) Crites, Casey (Tommy) Hughes, Ryleigh Meeker, Ryan Meeker; a great grandson, Jaxton Meeker and his mother Kayla Altman; a great granddaughter, Lyla Russell and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

A service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, February 10th, at the BRANT FUNERAL HOME IN SCIOTOVILLE with Pastor Robert Davis officiating.

The family will receive guests at Brant’s from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Monday.

Mike gave the precious Gift of Life through Lifeline of Ohio.

The family requests memorial contributions be made in Michael’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association.
