Mildred Jean ‘Honey’ Sullivan, 81, of Portsmouth, passed away on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at SOMC. She was born on May 18, 1944, in Buena Vista, GA, the daughter of the late Charlie and Anna Mae Davis Parker, Sr.
Honey was a homemaker who worked at the former Mitchellace and Golden Years Convalescent Center, at Goodwill, and as a server at the Elk’s Country Club. She graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1962 and was a 4-H leader during her daughters’ childhood. An avid bowler, she participated in the Portsmouth Bowling Leagues and achieved several 600-point games.
On August 9, 1964, she married Rev. Marvin Sullivan, Jr. in Portsmouth. The couple recently marked their 61st anniversary, a milestone she cherished and took pride in.
In addition to her husband, Marvin, she is survived by two daughters, Karen (Curry Noel) Sullivan-White and Kelly Sullivan, both of Portsmouth; four siblings, Nelson (Mary) Parker of Cleveland, James Lee Parker of Portsmouth, Rev. Clarence (Patricia) Parker of Greensboro, NC, and Donna L. Greene of Portsmouth; four grandchildren, Christin Morris, David Mallory, Alex White and Tyler (Josh) Glover; two great-grandchildren, Sinoah Glover and Cassian Morris; and many nieces, nephews and their families.
In addition to her parents, Mildred was preceded in death by seven siblings, Charles Parker, Jr., Willie, David and Clifford Parker, Willa Mae Ivory, Anna Maude Brown, and Evelyn ‘Candy’ King.
Funeral Services with Facebook Livestream will be held at 1 P.M. on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Minister Zanetta Rigsbee officiating.
