A Minford man is behind bars after being charged with raping multiple children over a period of several years.
The shocking allegations first came to light back on February 10 when an unidentified girl told medical personnel at an out-of-town hospital that she’d been sexually assaulted.
The Scioto County Sheriff’s office sent detectives to the town where the girl was located to interview her. After talking with the girl, they found out about a second victim. She was also interviewed. The children told detectives that the rapes had been going on for several years. The youngest victim is 11 years old. The children said they had been too afraid to come forward about the crimes until now.
Once the suspect was identified, officers headed to a home in Minford to arrest Michael Rexroad, 43. The arrest happened without incident. Rexroad has been charged with six counts of rape. He’s currently being held in the Scioto County Jail on a $600,000 bond.
SCDN has reached out to several sources for more information. As this is an active situation with the possibilities of more charges pending, authorities are playing it close to the vest. One of our main questions has been to identify the hospital that’s said to be “out of town”. We want to highlight and thank those healthcare workers for a job well done. Further reporting about mandated reporters in healthcare and education are forthcoming.
The charges come just days after a Jackson man was sentenced to life in prison for raping three children in an unrelated case.
The investigation is still ongoing. Anyone with information should contact Detective Jodi Conkel at 740-351-1091.
SCDN will continue to ask the questions for you. We will update as soon as we possibly can.
