Officers found a missing woman safe and sound and a driver fled the scene of an accident. We break down the highlights from the Portsmouth Police Chief’s Daily Briefing.

Shenanigans At Night

Just after 1 am, officers responded to a report of a fight in the street in front of JJ Shenanigans on Gallia. The fight broke up when the police arrived.

Shots Fired?

A Grandview Avenue caller thought he heard gunshots at 3 am. Police investigated but did not find anything.

Fleeing The Scene

Officers responded to a crash on 11th Street at 3 am.  One driver appeared to have fled the scene on foot, leaving behind a car seat in the vehicle.

Police located an apparently injured man on 12th Street. It turned out there was a warrant for the man. Officers took him into custody and contacted the vehicle’s owner.

They collected blood samples from the airbags. The vehicles were towed.

Missing Woman Located

Officers found a woman whose husband reported her missing. He said she went out to tan in the morning the day before and never came home.

Police discovered she’d stayed the night with a friend and was fine.

Domestic Violence

A 17th Street woman reported that a man beat her up at 4:100 pm. Officers took a statement and were able to obtain the man’s name and date of birth.

Cry For Help

Just before midnight, officers responded to the BP on Gallia for a report of a woman assaulting a man near the gas pumps.

The woman told officers she wanted to harm herself and threatened her boyfriend. An ambulance transported her to SOMC for treatment.
