Mom, Boyfriend Charged in 7-year-old’s Death

A Portsmouth couple faces charges in the death of a 7-year-old boy. Little Wyatt Moore died in an ATV accident in the area of Doc Singleton Park, across from Dry Run Elementary School.  

Young Wyatt was riding on an ATV with Jeremy Bryant. Witnesses told 911 that the ATV struck a wire, causing both to be ejected.  

Deputies and EMS responded to the scene and transported both to SOMC for treatment. Both were transferred to Columbus hospitals for treatment. Sadly, 7-year-old Wyatt Moore, passed away from his injuries.    

Detectives began an investigation and the Ohio State Highway Patrol assisted by obtaining a search warrant to draw blood from the driver after his arrival at Grant Medical Center.   

The investigation revealed that the driver of the ATV was under the influence of drugs at the time of the accident and that Wyatt’s mother, Breonna Phipps, was aware that Bryant was under the influence. Bryant is Breonna Phipps’s boyfriend and the father of her infant daughter, that passed away in 2018.  

Bryant is charged with involuntary manslaughter, aggravated vehicular homicide, endangering children, DUI, and operating off street in willful or wanton disregard of safety.  

Phipps faces charges of involuntary manslaughter, child endangerment, tampering with evidence, and obstructing justice.
