Portsmouth City Manager Sam Sutherland’s Office is asking council to consider budget boosts for Spartan Stadium and money for plumbing at Branch Rickey Park at Monday’s City Manager’s Conference.

Council has already authorized $7,000 for maintenance and plumbing repairs at Spartan Stadium. However, the actual costs of the repairs were closer to $10,000.

Sutherland’s office will also request that the council allocate $9500 to reimburse Shawnee State University for plumbing repairs at Branch Rickey Park. The city previously agreed to reimburse the university for the work.

Sutherland’s office will ask council members to declare these obligations as emergency plans. The funds will come from the city’s grounds maintenance funds.

City Council can choose to accept the request and put the measure before the council, modify the request, take no action on the request, or reject the request.
