Morris “Mr. Magic” Maple, 82, of West Portsmouth, died Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at Grant Medical Center in Columbus. He was born October 15, 1941, in New Boston to the late George Harold and Minta Alice Dowdy Maple.

Along with his parents, Morris was preceded in death by his loving wife of 45 years, Linda Mae Brown Maple, whom he married on December 23, 1967; 5 brothers, Harold, Homer, Tony, Ron, and Ike Maple; and his twin sister, Martha Slark.

Morris was retired from Pepsi-Cola, where he worked for 42 years. He was a United States Army veteran, a Kentucky Colonel, a member of Lucasville Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star, and attended Unity Full Gospel Fellowship Church. Morris loved magic. He was a magician for over 60 years. He traveled all over the country performing magic. He even performed at the White House. Morris was also the owner of Maples House of Magic in West Portsmouth.

Morris was a proud Papa of his two daughters who survive: Shannon Maple(Matthew Nolan) and Syleana (Shane) Mougey. Also a proud Papaw of his 4 grandchildren: Tyler (Emma) Maple, Aaron Maple, Sydney Mougey and Sophia Mougey, also surviving is a brother Don Maple and a 2 sisters; Joyce Bowen and Ruth Baker.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 22, 2024, at McKendree Cemetery in Stout, with Brian Davis officiating. Family and friends will gather starting at 10:30. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth.
