Naked woman lands in jail

A naked woman throwing items into a yard on Swauger Valley Road ended up in the Scioto County Jail on a public indecency charge. But it was far from her first brush with the law – she was once charged with attempted murder.

Scioto County deputies responded after a caller reported a nude woman was outside carrying items and throwing them into the yard.

The caller told dispatchers the incident was on video and said they were standing by for deputies.

Deputies identified the woman as Angela Shepherd and requested an ambulance.

According to the sheriff’s log, Shepherd refused to go to the hospital and was taken into custody.

Shepherd was booked into the Scioto County Jail on a public indecency charge.

She later appeared in Portsmouth Municipal Court and was released on bond.

Court records show Shepherd has previous arrests involving theft, criminal damaging, and attempted murder.

In 2013, Shepherd was arrested in an attempted murder case and was later committed to a mental health facility for treatment. Court records show she eventually pleaded guilty in 2016 to felonious assault and tampering with evidence.

She was sentenced to an agreed total sentence of 4 years and 11 months, with credit for 989 days already served.

Court records show Shepherd was granted judicial release in 2017 and placed on three years of community control, including intensive supervision for at least six months. Her probation was completed in 2020.

The latest charge is an allegation. Shepherd is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
