Nancy Jane Hammond, 80, of Firebrick, Kentucky, went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 10, 2026, at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth, Ohio. She was born in Waynesville, North Carolina, on December 17, 1945, to the late Dennis R. and Iva Lee Greene Franklin.
For more than 50 years, Nancy was a devoted member of the Firebrick Christian Baptist Church, where she was a cherished member of its community. She loved crafting beautiful floral arrangements. Nancy’s warm spirit and willingness to lend a helping hand made her a beloved figure in the Firebrick community.
Along with her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Ollie R. Hammond, along with six brothers and sisters.
Left behind are three sons: Tony Hammond of Firebrick, Kentucky; Kevin (Maria) Hammond of South Portsmouth, Kentucky; and Douglas Hammond of Firebrick, Kentucky. She is also survived by four brothers: Dennis R. (Dorsey) Franklin of Millville, New Jersey; Arthur Franklin of New Boston, Ohio; James Franklin of Forest City, North Carolina; and David (Debbie) Franklin of Canton, North Carolina; two sisters: Viola Heddon of Anderson, Alabama, and Mary Ann Curtin of Forest City, North Carolina, as well as many other family members and friends who will greatly miss her.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at 1:00 P.M. at Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore, KY, with Pastor Raymond Lewis officiating. She will be laid to rest at the Firebrick Cemetery in Firebrick, Kentucky. Visitation for family and friends will take place at the funeral home on Thursday from 12:00 P.M. until the time of the funeral.
