New Boston High Speed Chase Ends in Portsmouth with Kids in the Car

New Boston

It was a typical Wednesday evening in New Boston with police officers delivering paperwork and pulling over cars for faulty equipment.

All that changed just after 9:30 pm when an officer attempted to pull over a vehicle. As he was calling in the tags, the engine revved up and the car took off.

The officer immediately gave chase with speeds reaching 130 mph.

The driver, Michael Evans, 29, and his passenger, Kayla Turby, 30, were taken into custody.

Police reported that 3 children were also passengers in the car. CPS was contacted. At 11 pm, however, CPS had not arrived and had not been able to contact any officers.

As police reported during the arrest, an onlooker claimed they knew the children and would get them home safely.

It is unknown whether the police released the children to the onlooker or if CPS took responsibility for their safety nearly two hours after the incident.
