No Help For Confused Man Wandering Downtown

Officers wanted to help a confused man causing a disturbance downtown, but found they didn’t have a lot of options.

Just after 9 pm, they responded to the Holiday Inn, where employees reported a confused man wandering around the lobby who tried to get behind the bar multiple times.

An officer tried to contact a mental health facility, but there was no after-hours help available. The hotel barred the man. The man initially requested to be taken to the Kent Apartments but changed the request to be dropped off near the lofts.

Officers were unable to contact the man’s mother and felt he was not confused enough to admit to the hospital forcibly.
