Nodding Out at the Splash N Go

A woman collapsed and died at a Findlay Street apartment and officers investigated reports of a man passed out at the Splash N Go Car Wash. We break down the Portsmouth Police Chief’s Daily Briefing.

Suspicious Activity

Can I Catch a Ride?

At 9:23 am, a caller reported a suspicious man in the municipal parking lot on 4th Street. He asked a woman if he could borrow her car and kept looking into parked cars.  When officers arrived he told them, he was simply trying to get a ride.

He called his sister who was willing to pay for a taxi but decided to walk instead. The officer assured the man he was not in trouble, he was just trying to help him get where he needed to be.

PMHA Parking Problems

We’ve been following the issue of people parking in the grass in Wayne Hills for several months. Just after 6:30 pm, a caller reported a neighbor parked their vehicle in the yard at a home in the 1900 block of Kendall.

Officers said the owner of the vehicle parked it in the yard in front of their apartment. Police advised them to move it.

Under the Influence

A caller reported people passed out in a vehicle at the Splash N Go Car Wash at 7:45 pm. An ambulance transported one man to the hospital. Police issued him a summons and arranged to have the vehicle towed.

Welfare Check

A worried granddaughter asked the police to check on her Grandmother. She hadn’t heard from her in a few days. Police headed out to the Bertha Avenue trailer where grandma lived and discovered she was fine, just hard of hearing.

Grand Theft Auto

Just before 2 am, a woman contacted police to report her vehicle stolen from Wayne Hills.

She filed the complaint over the phone due to being ill. Officers checked the area for the vehicle and when they couldn’t locate it, had her fill out a GTA Form.

Woman Collapses and Dies

At 3:48 am, a grandson called the police when his grandmother got up to use the restroom and suddenly collapsed to the ground in her Findlay Street home.

An ambulance transported her to the hospital and she was pronounced deceased at the SOMC ER.
