For the third time in just three days, deputies have been told they aren’t allowed to help an animal in danger. Just after 1 pm, a concerned neighbor reported a dog tied up to the porch of an abandoned house. The animal had no food, water, or shelter.
The caller said the dog was tangled up in a leash and they believed the owner was incarcerated. They said the dog had been barking all night long.
A deputy contacted the dog pound, but was told that the dog warden cannot remove a dog that is tied up even if the house is abandoned. Dispatch contacted a humane agent wo said she was on her way back from Ashland and would be there in about 45 minutes.
Officers sent pictures of the animal to the humane agent and she said she would respond as soon as possible.
ANOTHER Dog Left Tangled Up in a Chain Without Food or Water
We told you earlier in the week about a dog that was left tangled up in a chain without food or water, now there’s a similar report from Melody Lane.
A caller said a neighbor’s dog was tangled up in a chain and could not reach food or water. The caller said the animal had no shelter, and its owner had not been home for four days.
Officers contacted the Dog Warden and responded to the home. The Dog Warden managed to get the dog’s chain untangled and fed and watered it. The agency said it would follow up with a humane agent.
