Object Fired at MedFlight

MedFlight

Just before 4 pm, officers investigated a report that an unknown person fired off some type of mortar at a low-flying helicopter in Minford.

Officers learned that the chopper was a MedFlight air ambulance and contacted the company’s dispatch in Columbus. They said their chopper took off from the airport for a Pike County call, but the pilot did not report hearing or seeing anything strange.

When officers investigated the area where the incident happened, they discovered a man with an open warrant.

A deputy searched the area and impounded the remains of a high-powered firework, and took the man into custody on his existing warrant.

Publisher’s Note

A source with knowledge of the incident spoke exclusively to SCDN. According to their statement, Scioto County Sheriff David Thouroughman actually witnessed the incident. Sheriff Thoughman is proving day by day that he’s a working Sheriff and not an office chair Sheriff.

It is reported that Michael Mullins was arrested in this case for an outstanding warrant.

It is expected more charges will be filed.

SCDN will continue to monitor the response by law enforcement, including the reaction from the FAA.
