A potentially deadly situation unfolded in the parking lot of McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville when a witness spotted a man slumped in a vehicle who appeared to be under the influence. Quick-thinking bystanders called for help—and likely saved a life.

A Scioto County Sheriff’s Deputy arrived on scene and immediately suspected a possible overdose, requesting an ambulance to respond. EMS arrived promptly and evaluated the man, but he refused transport to the hospital.

Rather than leave him alone, officers arranged for a safe ride home, and his friends stepped up to take care of his vehicle.
