Scioto County, Ohio, the ODNR is Seeking Public Feedback Regarding No-Wake at Shawnee State Park’s Turkey Creek Lake.
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) is seeking feedback from local and visiting lake users at Shawnee State Park to determine if the no-wake lake management plan for the park’s Turkey Creek Lake should be made permanent.
On Jan. 10, 2019, the electric-motor-only restriction was revised to allow any motorized watercraft to operate at no-wake speed on the waters of Turkey Creek Lake at Shawnee State Park, which is located in Scioto County. This new lake management plan was implemented as a two-year pilot program that expires in the fall of 2020.
People who boated on Turkey Creek Lake during the 2019 or 2020 boating seasons are encouraged to share their experiences. The public is invited to provide feedback on the pilot program by sending an email to watercraft@dnr.state.oh.us, or by U.S. Mail addressed to Turkey Creek Lake Pilot Program, 2045 Morse Road C-3, Columbus, Ohio 43229. Comments will be accepted until Aug. 31.
Public comments and recommendations, along with public safety, recreational opportunities, regional economics, and environmental factors are key components considered during the development of a lake management plan.

According to Lake Link Ohio: “Turkey Creek Lake is located in Scioto County, Ohio. This lake is 51 acres in size. It is approximately 30 feet deep at its deepest point. When fishing, anglers can expect to catch a variety of fish including Channel Catfish, Largemouth Bass, Rainbow Trout.”
