Woman Claims Roofer Ripped Her Off

An unhappy Portsmouth resident contacted police to claim a roofer had ripped her off. She said she wrote an $800 check for roofing repair, and no work was done.

She said the roofer never showed up, so she hired another company to complete the work. She said the original roofer agreed to return the money minus a deduction for his time to return the materials he’d purchased, but he’d never paid her.

When officers contacted the roofer, he said he had mailed the check. Officers advised the woman to contact them if the check did not arrive in a few days. The woman contacted police a few days later to report the check had arrived.
