Just before 4 pm, Pike County officers alerted Scioto County Sheriff’s Deputies about a shootout near Stockdale. They said that the occupants of two vehicles were shooting at each other. At the same time, a woman called Scioto County Dispatch to report someone had pulled onto her property and seemed to be hiding from someone.
The homeowner said several people were standing outside a vehicle that matched the one involved in the shootout. Some of the group stole an Impala from the homeowner, and they all took off and headed down Richard Road. The homeowner said the group dropped a bag of something in the yard as they left.
When a deputy picked it up, they discovered it contained a white powder. Multiple officers searched the area and managed to recover one of the vehicles and a weapon.
Officers searched the area for some time but could not locate the suspect.
The investigation into this incident continues. SCDN will update as more details become available.
Additionally, SCDN has requested video footage from the OSP of a large police chase that occurred in Pike County shortly after this incident. Similar descriptions are given for both vehicles. We are still investigating whether these incidents are related.
