Officers Investigate Second Tragedy in Car

Death investigation

We told you last week about a fatal shooting in a vehicle parked at a gas station; now, there’s been a second similar incident, this time involving some type of tool.

Deputies responded to a Coal Grove neighborhood after a caller reported an unconscious man in a car. When they arrived on the scene, they saw a man slumped over behind the wheel. Officers determined he was deceased and determined he had suffered multiple lacerations,

Officers set up a perimeter to secure the location and determined if there was any foul play involved. Detectives located a sharp tool in the passenger seat.

An Officer reviewed security footage from a nearby park and watched the man drive up to the home, get out of the vehicle, stumble around, and then go back toward the car. The victim fell down, then got back up and got into the car.

Coal Grove officers noted the man had recently had a mental health episode and had attempted to confess to a 10-year-old time.  Officers said all evidence pointed to the injuries being self-inflicted, and there was no reason to suspect any foul play.
