Officers Save Man in Crisis
At noon, a frantic woman contacted PPD to report that her child’s father had sent her a video of him holding a loaded gun to his head.
Officers and EMS workers headed to the scene and notified SOMC that they could be headed their way with a person in a mental health crisis.
The man agreed to go to the hospital but preferred to ride with officers instead of an ambulance.
OD Victim Revived on Grant Street
First responders sprang into action when they received a report of a man lying beside a stop sign at Grant and Summit Streets.
They administered Narcan to revive him and referred him to drug treatment after medics cleared him.
Dog Rescued After Human Overdoses on 8th Street
Just after 4 pm, officers and EMS responded to 8th and Gallia for a report of a man overdosing inside a truck.
When police arrived at the scene, they took the man into custody, but he also had a passenger with him, a medium-sized black dog.
Officers contacted Animal Control and left the dog in a kennel to be picked up. They also arranged for the man’s vehicle to be towed, before booking him into the Scioto County Jail.
Here’s a Bonus Dog Story
Just after 12:30 am, police responded to a 6th Street Apartment building for a report of a man passed out in the lobby.
Police took the man into custody and took possession of his dog. The dog was very upset, so an officer walked the dog until it calmed down and then took it home to the suspect’s roommate.
Early the next morning, SOMC Security officers ended up taking care of a dog that turned up in the ER lobby. The dog was not being a problem. It was just napping in the lobby. SOMC Security agreed to watch the dog until Animal Control could take custody.
Police booked the suspect into the Scioto County Jail.
