Ohio Officer Fired for Using Stun Gun on 2 Female Students

A longtime school resource officer who used a stun gun on two high school students during a self-defense course at an Ohio high school has been fired.

Tonya Corbin, a resource officer at Perkins High School, was fired by the Perkins Township Ohio trustees on a 3-0 vote. She had been on unpaid leave for about three weeks.

Corbin was teaching a self-defense class at the school when she used a stun gun on two female students, ages 17 and 18, according to Ohio authorities.

Her initial denial was that the stun gun had been used by the students. Both students and a teacher at the school disputed that claim, but Corbin eventually admitted using the stun gun, authorities said.

The self-defense class had been offered to students in the past, but it was the first time Corbin was leading the class, according to Ohio officials.
