Teen Calls Cops On Dad Who Makes Her Turn Down TikTok

A teen who called the police because her dad told her to turn down TikTok, a masked man who looked like he had a gun, and a mom who refused to comply with an emergency custody order were just some of the cases that kept PPD busy. We break down the highlights from the crime log in these 8 slides.

Robbed By A Masked Man

Just before 3 am, the Marathon on the Scioto Trail reported a robbery. A man in a red mask acted as if he had a gun and then left on foot and headed North. Police could not locate the suspect.

Officers obtained video of the robbery at 8:21 am.

Missing Teen

A mom called the police just after 9 am to report a missing kid. She said she dropped her child off at school just after 7 am. However, Portsmouth High called to tell her her child did not show up for first and second period.

TikTok Trouble

An argument between a teen and her stepfather brought police to a home just after 12:38 pm. The teen girl called police to report her stepfather threw a glass bowl at her and that her parents wanted her to leave.

Police spoke with the girl who said she was watching TikTok videos in the living room and her stepfather told her to turn the volume down.

She did, but then he turned up the volume on the TV and she couldn’t hear her phone. She told him to turn the TV down and he took her phone away. That’s when she threatened to call the police on him for yelling at her.

When she went to go outside, he closed the door on her arm. The stepfather said it was because the dog hit the door and caused it to close.

Police saw no indications of abuse. The girl’s father made arrangements to pick her up and police suggested the family consider counseling.

Under The Influence

Shut The Front Door

Police answered a call to Chesnut Street just after 2 pm to standby for a custody exchange. A man had been granted emergency custody of a child.

When police arrived at the home, the mother said the child was not there and that she would not the child to the man. When officers explained the emergency custody order, she shut the door and refused to open it.

Dude, Where’s My Car?

At 6:18 pm, a man wandering in the Kroger parking lot told police he was attempting to find the car of the friend he’d come to the store with. He said he had a hard time locating the vehicle in the midst of all of the other cars.

Officers advised him that if anything comes up stolen in the parking lot, they’ll be checking the surveillance video.

Kids Left Alone

At 11 pm, police received a report of two girls unattended at the Oasis Convenient Mart. Police picked the kids up and took them to their grandmother’s apartment.

She said they were supposed to be staying at a friend’s house.
