Ohio Vax-a-Million Ends As Vaccinations Stall
The Ohio Vax-a-Million’s impact fades, while vaccination rates remain unchanged.
Governor Mike DeWine’s announcement of the vaccination incentive program on May 12 resulted in a 43% increase in state vaccinations over the previous week. However, vaccination rates have declined since then.
In Ohio, about 5.5 million people have received at least one vaccine. This is roughly 47% of Ohio’s population. 42% of the population, or about 4.9 million people, have completed the process.
According to DeWine, nearly 200,000 doses of Johnson & Johnson’s vaccine were scheduled to expire on June 23.
In a strange turn of events, the Food and Drug Administration extended the expiration date by six weeks last week. To question the process of arbitrarily extending vaccine expiration dates would be negligent on our part as the press.
The care and storage of these vaccines are carefully monitored like a fragile relic of the Mayan culture. Extending the expiration dates on a whim certainly seems suspect to many.
This, along with many other concerns, may explain why over half of the population of Ohio has refused to accept the controversial vaccinations.
